Study of the spontaneous nano-emulsification process with different octadecyl succinic anhydride derivatives

Three new amphiphilic molecules were synthetized on a basis of common monomer, octadecyl succinic anhydride (OSA), which grafted different PEGylated hydrophilic polar head. The objective this study is to investigate potential relationship between the chemical structure surfactant, and efficiency generate nano-emulsions through spontaneous nano-emulsification method. Beyond innovative synthesis comparison these amphiphiles, comprehensive suggested, comparing size distribution polydispersity for composition parameters, as well making bridge with critical micelle concentration hydrophile lipophile balance (HLB). Using OSA monomeric entity hydrophobic moiety, variations in surfactant done addition one or two Jeffamine chains configurations, so-called C18⊖-PEG, C18-PEG C18-PEG2. results disclosed that C18⊖-PEG allows producing smallest lowest PDI values. Moreover, presents highest micellar concentration, linked higher hydrophilicity molecule. This impacts affinity oil aqueous phases, point probably related emulsification efficiency.
